COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS
Our Competitive program is built for girls & boys U8 and older who are ready to train hard, sharpen their skills, and test themselves against the strongest players in the nation's top leagues and competitions.

What Sets Us Apart
We guide players and teams through every stage of growth, and our access to non-city fields lets them reach premier leagues and top state competitions sooner than through any other program in San Francisco.
Our teams are led by top coaches—more licensed coaches than any club in San Francisco—plus a dedicated technical staff and extra training, events, and experiences, with some top players even training abroad at professional academies.
Everything centers on player development: a true club model with multiple teams per age group and a proven curriculum that builds skills while introducing tactics at the right age.
The Commitment
Competitive soccer asks more of players and families. Our teams train at least twice per week, and our top teams often add private training sessions and clinics. Teams compete in level-appropriate tournaments, and some of the top squads travel for overnight or out-of-state games.
Our Competitive Programs
The Club fields teams across every level of competitive youth soccer, including MLS NEXT, Girls Academy, National Premier League (NPL) Club status, NorCal Premier Soccer, and SF Youth Competitive (Upper House). We're also affiliated with ODP through Cal North and PDP through U.S. Club Soccer. We are the only SF club with MLS NEXT in every age group (U13–U19), Girls Academy in every age group, and NPL Club status (U13–U19 Boys).
The Glens hold Players First (P1) Club status—U.S. Club Soccer's stamp of approval on our development philosophy and how we deliver it. We're equally proud that, thanks to our Scholarship Fund, we've never turned away a single family for financial reasons. As the first SF club with our dedicated soccer facility, located on Treasure Island, we invite you to be part of what we're building together in San Francisco.

As a Founding Member of MLS NEXT—America's top boys soccer league—the SF Glens are the only SF club offering the Full Pathway, with teams in every age group from U13 to U19 across both Tier 1 and Tier 2. Our players train year-round in elite environments, compete against the best clubs in the country, and earn exposure to college and professional scouts at national showcases. Learn more about our program, teams, and player development pathway.

The SF Glens are proud partners of Girls Academy, the top youth development platform for female soccer players in the U.S., fielding Full Pathway teams from U13 to U19. GA sends players to the NWSL and top colleges—nearly 59% of 2024 commits went to NCAA Division I. Train year-round in a high-performance environment built for elite competition, top coaching, and national exposure.

Playing Time Policy
Requirements vary by program. General guidelines:
-
SF Competitive Program: 40% minimum
-
Travel Competitive – NorCal: 33% minimum*
-
Travel Competitive – Girls Academy / MLS NEXT / NPL: 25% minimum*
*Playing time can be affected by practice attendance.
Guest Player Policy
SFYS Competitive Program: Players may guest for other SF Competitive teams under SF Youth Soccer guidelines. SFYS typically caps a team at two guest players, and guests may only play for teams in the SF Comp Upper House league.
Travel Competitive (NorCal / NPL / MLS NEXT / Girls Academy): Teams competing in the NorCal Premier League may guest players from other NorCal travel teams within the club. Following a club model, this gives players extra game experience—and those excelling at their current level can play up an age group or tier for a more expansive development experience.
San Francisco Residency Requirement
Our programs are designed for SF residents, with limited exceptions. Teams U14 and under may carry two non-SF residents; teams U15 and up may carry three. This keeps teams eligible for SFRPD fields for practice and games. Currently, all SF Glens competitive teams meet residency requirements. Learn more about residency requirements in the FAQ below.
